ACCESS Development Services (ACCESS) is a not-for-profit company that offers specialised technical assistance under two verticals: microfinance and livelihoods. Their main national initiative Microfinance India Summit 2011 will be held between December 12 and 13 at Hotel Ashok, New Delhi.
On the occasion, they will release a new publication “Two Decades of Self Help Groups in Microfinance: Time for a New Direction?”. NABARD and GIZ are providing technical and sponsorship support for the SHG Report.
The study is authored Ajay Tankha, independent consultant, who is a leading researcher of SHGs and has led or participated in SHG studies and evaluations conducted by CGAP, Sa-dhan, CARE-India, Rabobank, ICCO and Cordaid, and was co-author of the SHG Lights and Shades Study sponsored by USAID, Catholic Relief Services, GTZ and CARE-India.
The proposed study has dual objectives. It envisages both a substantive historical examination of the SHGs in financial intermediation in India and abroad as well a comprehensive discussion of ongoing issues and more recent concerns related to their microfinance operations. The study will address three core issues related to cost-effectiveness, impact and sustainability, i.e., the development cost of SHGs and SHG based–institutions.
This is an urgent request for suggestions on a suitable candidate for the position of Research Assistant to work closely with the author on the publication. For details please contact on firstname.lastname@example.org.
